The MCC is seeking to recruit a motivated post-doctoral researcher with a background in social sciences and experience on demand-side climate solutions. She or he will serve as a chapterscientists to the Chapter 5 of the IPCC’s AR6, Working Group 3, “Demand, services, and social aspects of climate mitigation”. Job duties The successful candidate will be located at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) in Berlin and work in a BMBF-funded position supporting the Coordinating Lead Author of the IPCC chapter “Demand, services, and social aspects of mitigation”. The candidate will be involved in these major tasks: 1) helping in identifying and categorizing the relevant literature ondemand-side solutions for climate change mitigation, inter alia based on bibliometric and systematic review methods; 2) coordinating with the lead and contributing authors on chapter content, management, and review comments; 3) contributing to filling assessment gaps in the IPCC report. Collaboration and communication with and tolerance to a diverse and wide-ranging community interacting with demand-side solutions for climate change mitigation is part of the job. Publication of own research papers is actively encouraged, and active career mentoring will be provided. Appointment terms The position is financed from April 1st 2019 until 31st July 2021, subject to formal confirmation by the grant agency. Salary for the position is according to the German TV-L (100% position). The contract duration is for 28 months. The MCC actively seeks to promote equality, diversity and tolerance.
